Hours: 4-5 hours per week
Target participants: production workers and assembler

Projected outcome: Enrollment in Tester or Technician

2
Skill need: Tester or Technician Training Program
Hours: Either 5 or 14 hours per week (1 or 2 classes
per semester), 50% on paid time, college credit offered
Target participants: production workers and assembler
operators
Projected outcomes: Promotion into Tester and Technician
positions with wage increase of $2.93 to $5.55 per hour
Tier
3
Skill need: Technician Prep Program or Computer/Telecommunications
Technology Associates Degree
Hours: 5 or 7 hours per week
Target participants: Certified Testers, Trained Technicians,
Lab Technicians
Projected outcomes: Promotion
into Technician Apprenticeship Traineeship or to highest position
before Engineer position with wage increase of up to $5.39 over
2 years

Project
Skill Outcomes
The three training tiers move workers through
a series of increasing skill levels:
1. Basic assembly and production skills
Math for electronics
Reading, writing
2. Math for electronics and knowledge
of manufacturing process
Conduct root cause analysis
Operate precision measuring
equipment, e.g. oscilloscopes, function meters
Apply electronic theories
3. Test, diagnose, certify and repair
complex electronic printed circuit boards and equipment
Support and contribute to overall
flow of manufacturing process
Design and build prototype/ new product test equipment
or software
Establish methods and procedures for assembly and testing
Circuit design, troubleshooting and calibrating equipment
4. Electrical and electronic engineering
