Green Across Borders
Union members attending the UN Climate Change Conference in Poznań, Poland represented a broad cross-section of AFL-CIO affiliates: AFSCME, IUE-CWA, IAM, IBEW, USW, and UMWA.
Also involved were the Amalgamated Transit Union, the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, the Transport Workers Union, and the Utility Workers Union, along with the Industrial Union Council and Oregon AFL-CIO.
The meetings focused on many tough issues, and union members came away with a broad agreement on steps labor should take to encourage investing in renewable technologies, advanced coal technology, energy efficiency, and other measures that create good jobs worldwide while also protecting the environment.
