Dear Fellow CAPE Members,

By now you may have heard about a U.S. Supreme Court decision that came down today in a case known as Janus v. AFSCME.

CAPE-Represented Agency Fee Payers:

This notice is to advise you of a decision made June 27 in the U.S. Supreme Court Case of Janus v. AFSCME Council 31 and how it pertains to you and your fair share contributions to CAPE.

Bargaining Update:

This year, the California Association of Professional Employees will sit across the table from Los Angeles County management to negotiate successor agreements to its MOUs for units 131/132, 501/502 and 511/512.

The first unit negotiating sessions between the California  Association of Professional Employees and the County of Los Angeles took place June 12 (501/502 and 511/512) and June 19 (131/132).

CAPE works hard to ensure our members interests are represented fairly, not only by elected county officials, but state representatives as well.

CAPE recently sent letters to California state legislators regarding two key items that affect our membership. We wanted to keep you up-to-date and encourage you to contact your state senators regarding them.
